The overall goals of the curriculum are to meet the needs and provide experiences in each of these areas of development. These areas are all integrated to develop the whole child. The following are broad goals for our early childhood program:

Spiritual:

Develop a sense of trust.

Realize need for God’s Love.

Know Jesus as their personal Savior.

Respond to God’s love.

Feel secure in God’s love and care.

See themselves as a child of God

Emotional:

Develop a positive self-concept.

Be free to risk failure and be comfortable with mistakes.

Develop a sense of security and trust.

Show independence and self-reliance.

Channel emotions into acceptable outlets.

Social:

Learn to play, work and communicate with peers and adults.

Adjust to group situations.

Accept others as different from self.

Develop a sense of community.

Accept change in environment and routine.

Physical:

Develop fine motor coordination.

Develop large motor coordination.

Develop eye-hand coordination.

Develop eye-foot coordination.

Body awareness

Intellectual:

Continue to develop language use

and understanding.

Develop visual discrimination.

Develop auditory discrimination.

Recognize symbols.

Identify concepts such as shapes and colors.

Develop an ever-increasing attention span.

Complete a task.

Initiate his/her own activities.

Creative:

View self as a unique individual created by God.

Express ideas in his or her own way.

Free to create artistically using a variety of different media.

Develop God-given talents.
